no subject
[Should they even ask about "lol"...]
I'm on a train
no subject
i think im still banned from the magnet rail
no subject
Towards Saffron [They're pretty sure. They hope.]
no subject
tell me benny how many horror novels have you read
no subject
Maybe one?
I knew someone who was a big horror reader, and she used to tell me about the ones she read. So I didn't see much point
[Well, they also just didn't get the appeal...]
no subject
listen im planning on becoming the number one horror author in this dimension and i need to know if youve got my back
no subject
Sure??
no subject
I've got roughly one hundred ideas and need to figure out which one will have the broadest effect
which would you consider more viscerally terrifying:
very fast and angry beedrill in your house
or
discovering that the pokeballs they return to you at the pokemon center are empty
no subject
The second one
That one's scarier
no subject
hows your face btw
[ Their last interaction had involved quite a lot of punching. ]
[1/2]
[2/2]
It's
Back to normal
[They kind of assumed there was an Unspoken Agreement not to talk about it, but.]
Did the cut heal up?
no subject
its pretty hot tbh so thanks
no subject
[Fair enough??]
[...]
What are you up to?
Besides writing horror novels
no subject
we should hang out
no subject
[When's the last time someone asked them to hang out...?]
[They're immediately scrambling for a suggestion:]
You like ghosts, right
Have you ever been to Lavender Town?
no subject
if i still had my old job i could make them reconvert the radio tower in a week
no subject
I don't think they can just vanish, if they're also Pokemon?
[This is, maybe, leading up to them - reluctantly - asking BJ if he wants to go on a ghost hunt.]
[They are in fact desperate to hang out with someone okay]
Was your old job... ghost wrangler? Spooky interior designer?
no subject
dunno if ghost pokemon can move on
or what the afterlife here is like
ANYWAY i was kind of the reverse of that. i helped out spirits when fleshbags would invade their homes and start redecorating
[1/2]
Explains a lot
[2/2]
[. . .]
[This is a terrible idea but they're already writing it anyway.]
Do you want to try doing that with the tower
A bit of pro bono work
no subject
with me?
SAY LESS!
no subject
[They still are uneasy about ghosts In General, but they are telling themself: better contained in a tower that they find cozy and won't want to leave than all over the place? That's a net win, isn't it??]
no subject
-> action & timeskip!
rewildrehaunt!][Loop is regretting this a bit more now that they're actually faced with doing it, but, crucially, nowhere near enough for it to outstrip their desperate want to hang out with someone. Besides, Fleuirk - the only one of their Pokemon to tag along on this adventure - will never let it go if they retreat before she gets to cause even one problem. So Loop's next obstacle here is:]
How do we start?
[(Where are they, anyway? Staring at the Tower right out in the open? Lurking suspiciously in a bush? Loop is following BJ's lead here, since he's the expert!)]
no subject
[ The Juice leans over his steaming plate of waffles, his fingers pleated beneath his chin. ]]
We start by getting the lay of the land--figure out where all the exits are and more importantly, how many shmucks we gotta get rid of.
[ The waitress refilling the coffee at his elbow lifts a brow. ]
no subject
[It is large and intimidating.]
[Loop looks at the waitress. Then at Beetlejuice. Then back at the waitress. Then, with a tone of extreme confidence, they explain,] Pokemon relay obstacle... capture the flag.
[Surely that's a thing somewhere out there!!]
[Fleuirk, meanwhile, takes a big chomp out of one of their pancakes.]
no subject
[ The waitress shakes her head and leaves. She's not being paid enough to care about this. ]
No, listen, I've got the schematics. Here.
[ He tugs his Poke'Gear out of his pocket and slides it across the table. On the screen is one of those fire escape plans that he took a photo of in an employees only hallway shortly before being escorted out of the building. ]
Marley's got Hypnosis, but it's only good for a few targets at a time. What about your guys?
no subject
[The conventions of fire escape plans don't match the kind of maps they're used to, but with a bit of rotating the Gear around they can figure out what's supposed to be representing the front door and go from there.] It looks like there's another exit around the back, and one on this side...?
...oh. [They have to think about it for a moment.] Orrery has Confusion, but I didn't bring her. She'd be too big and noticeable, I think... and Fleuirk can burn or jump scare people, but that's only one person at a time. Unless you can think of something else?
[The last sentence is addressed to Fleuirk, who immediately takes a deep breath in - and is interrupted by Loop clapping a hand over her mouth, preventing her from Screeching at full volume right in their ears.]
Not that! That'll bring them all onto us! [It probably is temporarily incapacitating for humans at very close range, though.]
I could go grab Burnoรฎt, though. He has Smokescreen.
no subject
Jumpscare can be real useful--get people off their feet if they've got that kinda trap door skeleton reflex.
[ A ponderous nod. He takes a bite of his waffles and then gestures at Loop as he chews.]
And we shouldn't forget the backup we'll have--the ghosts we'll be rehoming. Or...re-rehoming.
no subject
[Loop's a bit nervous to ask, but -]
Do you have a way to... uh, round them up beforehand? And let them know what we're doing?
[Loop prods at their terrifying stack of pancakes with a fork, trying to figure out where to start.]
no subject
no subject
You found out where they are?
[Loop finally just stabs a pancake and starts munching on it, on the principle of worrying about one breakfast food at a time.]
[Fleuirk has been "helping," at this point worrying one of their pancakes like a dog. She pauses, pancake dangling, to give BJ an interested look. Yeah, where are the ghost hangouts here right now?]
no subject
[ BJ isn't really one to do research, but well, he's finally interested in something. He has a direction. A goal. Fuck up some living peoples' day by any means necessary. ]
If we get enough ghosts following us, the others will come out of the woodwork.
no subject
[That feels... bad? Yeah. Bad. Logically, there's a lot of buildings out there built over dead things, but...]
[Loop is suddenly feeling more sympathetic to the ghosties.]
...yeah, that should be plenty. One or two ghosts can probably handle a person each, right?
[They still remember the ghostly tea party!!]
no subject
Exactly. That's the living for you. Anyway, yeah, we should only need one or two ghosts per vict--i mean trespasser.
[ He dabs crumbs from his mouth with the end of his tie. ]
We'll need disguises, of course.
no subject
Of course. [Do they?]
I guess we could always try to jump some of the workers heading in or out, steal some uniforms...
It'll probably be easier to find them in your size than mine. [This is the closest they will get to outright admitting that they're short.]
no subject
no subject
[They start in on the rest of the plate, munching on the hash browns, eggs, and bacon. They are... actually finding themself more hungry as they go along, so maybe it's a good thing this plate is huge. They haven't always been eating the most consistently, what with usually traveling solo aside from their Pokemon.]
[They wave their fork.] Rounding up ghosts first, or disguises first? [Or is there something else they should worry about?]
no subject
no subject
I'll leave that to you, then~ [They chirp.]
no subject
I'm ready when you are.
no subject
[It's not long before the two are back outside. Loop mutters something to Fleuirk, who zooms off excitedly on some sort of quest. (Fetching Burnoรฎt, it's fetching Burnoรฎt.) Then they turn to BJ.] Lead the way!
[Let's see where these relocated graves are at. And how nasty the local ghosts are.]
no subject
[ He stands on the curb, hands in his pockets. Beetlejuice shakes his head. ]
Would ya look at this dump?
no subject
[...actually, you know what, this is a good question.]
Do ghosts actually like flowers? [The ones Loop has seen here seem to prefer spookier environments to haunt. Loop can't say they'd do the same, though they'd prefer not to stick around at all - if they had to pick, a flowery coastline or something sounds much nicer.]
[On the other hand, you'd get to be a lot more dramatic haunting somewhere eerie. So okay, maybe they get it.]
